Balloon Rigatta

In October our little town hosts a Balloon Rigatta. We have lived here for three years now and have been able to go each year. Last year was Little Jo's first year and unfortunately it was a bust. It was cold and too windy for the hot air balloons to fly in the morning and when they lined up along Main Street for the balloon glow it was just the baskets and flames, and no balloons.
This year it did not disappoint. It was the most balloons that we have ever seen flying in the sky. Jo loved watching them.
She watched them in our front yard for a while.
We even watched one float right above our house.
After watching them for a while in our front yard we decided to go for a walk and see if anymore balloons were going to be taking off and we could watch.
Unfortunately for us we were not able to actually see any of the hot air balloons take off from the ground up close, but we did watch this one take off from the park from afar.

After taking lots of pictures...
We decided to head over to a restaurant and get some breakfast.
Jo had fun looking through the menu.
She finally decided that what Mom and Dad were getting sounded pretty good and that she would just share with us...meaning eat all of Dad's sausage from of his omelet and half of my pancake.
It is pretty difficult to share half a pancake with someone...but who can say no to this face!
Jo had fun stacking the butters while we waiting for our food. After walking around, eating out, and visiting the craft fair Jo was pretty tired and we went home for a few hours for her to take a nap. We ate some dinner when she woke up we got ready and bundling up for the balloon glow.
Jo was worried about her head getting cold and thought she needed to wear two hats.
This little character was pretty excited and loved watching the balloons.
We arrived a little early and were able to watch a few of the balloons blow up...you never really realize how large these hot air balloons are until you stand up next to one.

This event and all the small town events that we get to participate in really have made me love living here.
It is so fun to stroll down main street and visit with everyone...constantly seeing familiar faces, hearing the high school kids shout out to my husband. It truly feels like home here.
