Jocelyn's 5th Birthday

Jocelyn got to celebrate her birthday over an entire week. Her birthday tends to fall over Spring break. So, we went up to Salt Lake for spring break. She got to celebrate with the Dalton family and then with Grandpa and Grandma Deus. She got to make her own build a bear birthday bear. They made her feel very special. Jocelyn's birthday request this year was a camping trip. So, after time with family we spent the remainder of our spring break camping in Moab, UT. We had a great time celebrating this special girl.
Jocelyn has already told us, too many times to count, that, "I am five now, so I can do anything." She loves preschool and is so excited to start Kindergarten next year. She loves to read books, she loves crafts and coloring. Jocelyn colors at least two hours a day. She is very good with numbers. She can do simple addition problems and is really good at puzzles. She loves to play with her toys, with her friends, and most of the time with her sister. That is when the two of them are not fighting. She has a great imagination. She enjoys playing outside and will spend hours looking for potato bugs. She loves animals and bugs. The other day we found a caterpillar in our yard and she sat and held it for hours while I was weeding the front yard. At one point she came over to me and was distraught because she could not find the caterpillar. We looked all over and could not find it. I told her to stop moving and see if she could feel anything crawling on her. She could not and I told her it must just be gone. About five minutes later she said hey I feel something tickling my neck. We pulled up her hair and peeked down her shirt and what do you know, we found the caterpillar!
Jocelyn has a sensitive little soul. Her feelings get hurt easy, she cries often, and little things such as forgetting her lunch box in the car. She bursts into tears even though all she has to do is turn around and grab the lunch box. But, since she is so sensitive it also means she just loves everything with all her heart and cares deeply about other peoples feelings. She loves to cuddle, hold hands, and give hugs and kisses. She is very affectionate.
She loves to tell jokes, and sing songs. One of her favorites right now is Skidamarink, Down by the Bay, and I am a child of God. She is very observant and has a great memory. She is a great helper around the house and is always asking to help me with the cleaning. She will vacuum the floor for me, she enjoys loading and unloading the dishwasher and will even scrub the dishes while I load the dishwasher. She likes to help with laundry and will fold the socks and washcloths. We sure love the silly, sensitive, beautiful girl and are grateful to have her in our family. Happy fifth birthday girlie!
