Hogle Zoo: Bugapalooza

On our last full day of our originally planned trip to Utah we headed over to Hogle Zoo. My mom came with us and Jessie met us at the zoo as well.
Every time I go back to Hogle Zoo I am so impressed with the changes that they have made. It really it an awesome zoo!
The animals were so much fun! One of the lions was camped out taking a nap right next to the glass.

Jocelyn had so much fun taking a "nap" with a lion.
Bridget loved seeing the animals as well. She was slightly nervous to sit with the lion statues...that or she was feeling cranky that Jocelyn was the one holding her.
Everyone had to stop off and get a drink at the lion drinking fountain.
Ah, nice and refreshing! We needed lots of water. It was one hot, hot day at the zoo!

We were able to watch the Tigers take a nice refreshing drink and cool off in the water.

This was Bridget's first trip to a zoo. She loved looking at the animals.
Hogle zoo has also added new shows. We were able to watch the sea lion training, which was neat. It felt like we were at Sea World.
The girls loved watching the Sea Lion swim around in circles.
One of the seals saw Jocelyn watching from the glass and swam right over to her.
We saw the elephants training session as well.
After that they got a nice cool bath. So awesome to watch them play in the water!
Since we have been to Hogle Zoo they have also added the Giraffe Encounter where you can feed the Giraffes.
Ben and I love going to these encounters. It is so worth the extra money. It is exciting that Hogle Zoo has added this!
Bridget did a great job feeding them as well.
I had to help her hold the lettuce because she would drop it early and the giraffes long tongue would just be hanging out trying to catch the lettuce.
Aunt Jessie and Grandma were nice and shared some of their Lettuce leaves with Jocelyn.
Not only did we get to enjoy awesome shows and the neat animals...but, we also went during Bugapalooza.
There were huge bugs all over the zoo!
The bugs moved, made noises, and some of them even sprayed water at you.
Jocelyn was a little nervous with a few of the bugs.
However, the caterpillar was a huge hit for Bridget and Jocelyn.
They loved climbing and laying on it.

One of our favorite Arizona bugs was there, the scorpion! We were a little bummed they did not have any giant cockroaches. Which is in fact our most favorite Arizona bug that we get to share our state with.
Our Hogle Zoo family picture. Everyone say, "Tarantula".
Of course we could not miss out on the popular photo op spots.
The Gorilla.
Here's my cute little gorilla.
My beautiful Juvenile and my adorable infant. I sure love my little gorillas.
Bridget's little pointer finger was going all day long pointing at everything she saw.
We were able to catch one more bug when we were leaving the zoo. One of Jocelyn's favorite bugs...a lady bug!
Bridget was so tired from the zoo that while we were packing up she fell asleep in Grandma's arms. This trip to Hogle Zoo was the bomb, we had such a great time!
Ben and I dropped the kids off at Grandma and Grandpa's house that evening and headed out for our first official date just the two of us since Bridget has been born. We went to the Sandy Amphitheater to go see Dashboard Confessional and All American Rejects.
