We were so unbelievably lucky to be able to spend two priceless weeks with Mark and Tammy in June. Mark and Ben worked on lots of projects around our house during that time. It was very busy and sadly we did not take pictures! I do take comfort in the fact that we did make some wonderful memories.Tammy still had to work everyday that she was here. Jocelyn would take her little table and chair into the office with her and sit and work. She literally would sit and spend almost the entire day with Tammy. She would sit under the desk and read stories to the dogs, work on tracing her letters, and would color. If Jocelyn wanted to read Tammy stories she would stop whatever she was doing and take a short break so that Jocelyn could read to her. One of the books that Jocelyn read to her was Green Eggs and Ham and she did an excellent job recounting the story. We were all so impressed.
On the way out from Missouri, Mark and Tammy stopped off at McDonald's all along the way and ate kids meals so that they could collect the happy meal toys for Jo. They were cute miniature Ty beanie babies. Jocelyn was so excited to get them and we played with them a lot! One time Jo wanted me and Grammy Tammy to play with her. It ended up mainly being Jocelyn watching the "show" of Grammy Tammy and I playing together. There is a little Moose named Chocolate that Tammy was being and she introduced herself to the other beanies. I was being a wolf at the time and quickly remarked that I loved chocolate and started licking the mouse. Tammy had the mouse reply that he was not the chocolate that you eat, silly! Jocelyn just laughed and laughed and thought it was so funny. Tammy and I also cracked up laughing as well. It is not very often you get to play toys with your mother-in-law!
Jocelyn loves to play doctor. Grammy Tammy had a hurt knee while she was here and so Jocelyn was determined to fix Grammy Tammy's knee. She offered to put a band aid on it multiple times, and reassured her that that it would make it feel all better. One night she put on her Doc McStuffin pajamas and since she had her Doctor outfit on she was all ready to fix up everyone. She decided she needed to perform surgery on Grammy Tammy's knee and discovered that there was a bug inside her knee that was causing all the pain.
After fixing Grammy Tammy she then decided that she needed to give me a check-up. Unfortunately, I was not in good health and she discovered that I had a broken heart. After performing surgery on me to fix my broken heart she also discovered that I had a bug in my heart. She informed me that the bug had been placed there by Grammy Tammy. The two of us were giggling about it and joking around on how Grammy Tammy had placed a bug in my heart. Jocelyn informed us that while Grammy Tammy was making meatloaf for dinner she had snuck a bug into my slice of meatloaf (and only mine).
Papa and Grammy Tammy had to run an errand to Walmart and when they returned to Jocelyn's delight they had brought back 6 cans of brand new play dough. Jocelyn was so excited. She loved playing with it especially while Grammy Tammy was working.
After spending two week at our house The girls and I caught a ride up with Mark and Tammy to Salt Lake. I stayed at my parents house for almost a week while Ben was working and going to a soccer camp. Mark, Tammy, and Jessie all came over for a fun game night at my parents house. We had fun playing exploding kittens and sequence. While we were playing our game the girls were playing with the box of Domino's. Jocelyn was pretending that one of them was a phone. She brought it over to her Grammy Tammy and told her that her sweetie was calling her. My Mom made a joke that she better be careful her sweetie (Mark) does not find out about her other sweetie. A short while later Jocelyn brought the phone over to my Mom and told her that her sweetie was on the phone. We all started laughing, we really had a great time. After playing we sat and talked for a while in the living room and Jocelyn had fun using her imagination and playing with Tammy and Jessie. Tammy was always so great at playing with Jocelyn and helping Jo learn that she can imagine and dream anything. (A side note to explain why Jo was calling everyone sweetie was because she was enjoying playing the mom and taking care of her "sweeties.")
Our last moments spent with Tammy were at a fun park and splash pad in Bluffdale. We had fun eating a picnic lunch, talking, and watching the kids play. The girls got to give Grammy Tammy hugs goodbye, her favorite, and we all told her that we loved her.
We take comfort in that it is not goodbye, it is just a wait until we get to see her again. Our girls are so lucky that they got Tammy as one of their Grandmothers. Even though it was only for a short time in this life that they got to spend with her, we made some beautiful memories.
