Brian Head Resort

 On Saturday we woke up, ate breakfast, and headed over to Brian Head Resort. We were able to ride the ski lift up to the trail head of our hike and begin our three mile descent down the mountain.

 We literally could not have picked a better weekend to visit. The temperature was perfect with the crisp mountain air and warm sun. The views were breathtaking. It was the first time Ben and I had been to Brian Head. The only thing I would have changed about our trip would have been to bring more food! Brian Head only had two restaurants and a tiny convenient store for food options. We ate at each one once.

 We started Bridget out in the ergo, however she was not having it and we got her out and she starting hiking on her own. She did all of it minus her quick one hour nap when she went back into the ergo. Jocelyn did the entire three miles on her own, that girl was made for hiking. She seriously just enjoys being outside and exploring.

 The staff at Brian head turned this hike into an activity hike. Once we reached the lake Jocelyn was suppose to look for symbols and had clues to follow along the way. (Brian Head had terrible cell reception and at this lake is where we finally got cell service and I found out that baby Zach had been born the night before!)

 We crossed Ogre bridge.

 We found a small mining area and Jocelyn got to pan for gold in  little creek. She found some fools gold and polished rocks she got to put into her treasure bag. She was so excited! Ben had told her she would find treasure and would get to keep some neat rocks. Before we got to the areas where we were able to search for treasure, Jocelyn was finding her own special treasure in almost every little rock she found along the trail. One of the traits that I love about Jocelyn, being able to find special treasures in the little things. However, also sometimes a trait I find slightly irritating when she wants to keep every little treasure she finds!

 Jocelyn was able to find one of the symbols on the trail. The last activity of the hike the girls got to sift through dirt and found little fossils of shells and shark teeth. One of the reasons why the girls might have done so well on this longer hike was because of all the activities. We had such a fun afternoon!
