The girls are really into dinosaurs. So, Friday morning we woke up and drove over to Moab Giants. It had been raining on and off throughout the morning. When we drove up we had to wait in our car for a bit because it started to hail. The hail stopped and the rain lightened so we ran to head inside. Then we realized that a good chunk of the activities are outside. So, we just planned our time there around the rain.
Our first stop was the 5D aquarium. We had a tour guide take us around and talk to us about the different prehistoric species that lived in the deep. It was actually really neat. We moved from "aquarium" to "aquarium" watching the animals. Our last stop was the Megalodon. They warned us about its aggression. But, we had no idea how aggressive the Megalodon could be. We were just standing there and the shark started to ram its nose into the glass. The ground underneath our feet shook from the impact and the water from the tank sprayed us in the face with each blow from the shark. The girls were frightened, Bridget would hide her face in my shoulder and look out every once in a while during the attack. The shark took its last blow and broke through the glass, its head poking out, and its teeth chomping at us. Then the show was over. After the fact the girls could not stop talking about the shark attack. Every time Ben and I asked if they wanted to do it again they would reply very quickly with a firm, "No."
They had a little museum to walk around. The girls got to see some fossils and compare their feet to the size of a dinosaur footprint. Their favorite part was doing the half mile walking path and looking at all the life-size, life-like dinosaurs.
The girls got a picture with Dad's favorite dinosaur. We also got to see my favorite as well. They had over 100 dinosaurs on the walk. It was awesome!
The girls loved being able to see how large some of the dinosaurs actually were.
We also were a little jealous of this dinosaurs hair-do.
Jocelyn even got to stand next to her favorite dinosaur, Tyrannosaurus. Bridget was a little hesitant to go over to see T-rex and needed some encouragement from her big sister. T-rex was the last dinosaur on our walk. It started to sprinkle on us again. One of the things Jocelyn used to persuade Bridget over was that T-rex would protect her from the rain if you stand under his head. Well it worked and Bridget stood by T-rex long enough for a picture. They had a fun little playground the girls played on and then we headed to our car for some delicious peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for lunch. We had a great time exploring the dinosaurs and are grateful for our escape from the Megalodon.
