Instead of Ben and I buying gifts for each other for our birthdays, the last few years we have started a tradition of going on a Birthday trip. Disney on Ice happened to be in Phoenix the weekend before Ben and I's Birthday's this year. So, we decided to head down to Phoenix for our birthday trip.
We went to Cheesecake Factory for our Birthday dinner and then after headed over for the show. We got to watch Toy Story, Little Mermaid, Cars, and Frozen. They basically told a mini story of each of the movies. The girls favorite segment with Toy Story. Ben and I had a great time watching Barbie and Ken from Toy Story they were great actors and also great ice skaters. Ariel, Prince Eric, Anna, and Elsa were talented ice skaters as well. We had a really great time!
We ended up spending three nights in Phoenix. One of my co-workers gave us tickets for free admission to the Arizona Science Center. We had a good time, but boy was it busy. They had tons of kids there on a field trip that were not being chaperoned very well. They were running like crazy. I had to make sure my kids did not get run over by them. Once they left after lunch it calmed down and we had a good time exploring. While all the school kids were their we headed to the quite planetarium to watch a movie. At the end of our movie the employee put on some fun rolar coaster rides for us. It made me so dizzy!
The girls got to learn about their bodies and heart muscles by racing each other sitting in a wheelchair, listening to a drum beat to the rhythm of their heart, go inside a huge, replica of a working stomach and smell and hear all the sounds of digestion (the noise scared Bridget). They got to learn about the human body's defense that is inside our nose by throwing balls into a huge nostril and have it sneeze it back out at them.
They had a lot of fun exhibits for the girls to play on. The girls loved watching the balls float.
They loved going for a ride on the pulley chairs, learn about levers in a game of tug of war.
Ben and I even got to lay on a bed of nails. The girls were too nervous to try it out. It was not comfortable, but not uncomfortable.
We got to learn about the forces of nature by standing in storm simulator and feel a tornado, hurricane, monsoon, wild fire, and volcanic eruption would feel like. Bridget was not a fan of the monsoon! They got learn about water erosion by playing in the water and sand.
They got play with a camera that distorted their image, play with virtual sand that would fall on them and would collect in their arms, on their head. There was a motion sensor camera that they could interact with little monster, they would kick their arms and legs and the little guys would go flying on the TV screen. Jocelyn was very intrigued by it and did not want to leave.
We had a great birthday weekend spending time together as a family.
