Ben and I really loved visiting the missions in San Antonio. It was one of our favorite parts! When we saw that Tucson had some missions we were excited to go to one!
The building was beautiful!
But, it also felt very strange. It was still an active Catholic Church. There were many people there who seemed to come to worship there. They had candles lit all over the place.
The strangest thing about the experience was a statue carved as a man laying down. He was the priest that had started the mission and they would pray to him and there were pictures of the people carrying him. I learned that this is not something out of the ordinary for the Catholics to do; that most of the church's had their own patron saints that they would worship.
We enjoyed looking at the beautiful building and the artwork inside. Our visit was cut short because they were getting ready for a mass.
